Refugee artisans with Re: new Project are making handmade masks to help protect the community against COVID-19. Since March, Re: new Project has donated over 6,000 masks to care centers, medical facilities, and non-profits. Community members are also able to purchase the masks at an affordable price.

Jamila’s Kitchen is a family restaurant owned by Malik Malikzada and his family. He and his wife left Afghanistan and sought refuge in Pakistan. Now, in Coquitlam, the restaurant is providing free meals to first responders and frontline workers in the community.

There has been an increase in interest since the COVID-19 lockdown began. Tutoring online helps refugees support themselves and their families, while also making friends.
